Gov. Newsom's latest PR stunt: Give people a small, one-time bill credit and gut low-income programs

California’s elected officials are trying to kill three low-income programs at the last possible minute of the legislative session. This must happen before Saturday, 8/31. Gov. Newsom, Speaker Rivas, and Leader McGuire are seeking to appease ratepayers hurting from runaway energy inflation by providing a ONE-TIME, small, bill credit. You read that right. They’re planning to gut three low-income programs so that everyone gets one small bill credit. This is not equity, this is not energy justice. It’s insulting!

One program, CalSHAPE, provides funding for better ventilation for low-income schools - state leaders want to cut this program after a global pandemic?? What are they thinking?
